We Did It!!!

And by "it" I mean finished the damn fence!!!! Oh man, I am still excited about it. The excitement is from knowing there are no more days of this grueling labor in front of us. That was some painful stuff.

First off I have to give thanks and shout-outs to the friends who helped. Eric was the first(Friday). This was hole digging day. Starting out with hand digging some holes that were too close to buried utility lines so we could not use the power auger in those spots. Then we stood around waiting for wood. It arrived and we ate and rented the auger. Eric got really excited about this lovely machine. Basically a motor attached to a huge drill for drilling terra firma. Although this machine made it a lot faster, it still took the most out of me using it. We had to haul that thing around, get it "unstuck" from the hard as hell clay we hit. It was painful. AND we were in a hurry to get it back before they closed as to not pay for an extra day.

Saturday was used for setting the rest of the posts with Saji(my Boss) helping us out. Quick day filled with moving dirt and carrying 8 foot 4x4 poles around.

Sunday was the sudden death, as I did not want it to go beyond the weekend. My old friend Matt from my childhood(and now a present day friend) came to show off his screwing skillz. He whipped us into a good pattern and flow of work getting it finished before 6:00~! OH THE RELIEF!!!!

How does it look? I am happy with the results... Is it perfect? no. But did we save about $2-3000 on professional install? Hell ya we did. I am gonna take a nap for about a week, until we get to move!!!! EVERY muscle hurts right now. I am cramping from typing this.

Watch me lose it

OK so the first thing we are gonna do to the house is build a privacy fence. Easy enough right? Ya, turns out is gonna cost us about $1000 for material, and every amount of energy we have for the next week or two. Why God? Also I have to go apply for a permit. Maybe my initial reactions are always too far off base. But I never have problems sleeping. Last night I think I imagined building the fence in my mind 3 times. From every hammer swing, to every hole dug, to every, holy crap. I think I am going to be bald by the end of the month. Pray for me(and Melissa who has to be around me)

Closing Time

Ok so we did it. We signed our lives away. We own land/property. The American Dream. (besides Tivo) We got to initial and sign about 400 pages worth of legal BS, then we went to Louie's on the Lake and drank many Blue Moon's. Damn that's a fine beer. We continued to drink with our friends until our conscious got the best of us as we imagined our poor Beagles sitting at home waiting to eat.

So that's it. Done deal. Nothing else to say. We move in in a couple of weeks.

On a side note, I got the new Beta AOL AIM thing and it has AOL radio. I will be damned if this '90's Indie Radio station doesn't rule all to hell. Screw all this new BS, give me some Pavement Slanted and Enchanted, some old Built to Spill, and oh ya, THE BLUES EXPLOSION!!!! I am loving it. Those were the years where I REALLY got into bands and albums. I dunno if it is older age, or badder music, but I can't get into anybody new anymore. I did get real excited about Destroyer for awhile, I await a new album from them. I also love The Silver Jews, new album this week? Looks like it will be the first cd purchase in a couple of years.

Big show coming up with Student Film opening for Aqueduct at Conservatory. Hit the "rock" link over there for more info.

SNL

If you saw the season premiere of SNL Saturday you saw an old friend of mine. Bill Hader. He was more of a friend of a friend in Tulsa. I appeared in one of his early "indie films" he made. That guy is hilarious. He can imitate any voice. You also may have seen him on MTV's Punk'd, where he got to make Ashlee Simpson cry(so jealous). Anyways just thought I would give a shout out, and bring attention to an Oklahoman done good. Judging from the audience's response to him, he may be in for a long run on TV and film.
