Music = Hobby

Recently I have been challenged on the way I view playing in a band, and "trying to make it". I normally just explain "I have bills, I have planned a life out that has not included touring with a band." Most people seem to understand. Today I ran across a great article written by Steve Albini. If you don't know who he is, sorry. Anyway, go read this, it may help those who think they know how I should be living my life when it comes to playing in a band:

Flickr rulz and we all know this. But what doesn't rule is that nobody is taking pictures(or just not uploading them). If you own a digital camera, there is no excuse not to use it. It's free!! Unless you are a sucker and are buying non rechargable batteries, in that case we call you a sucker and an idiot. Let's return to our lenses and take bad photos of each other drunk, sleeping, laying with babies(or dogs) etc... and share it with each other.
Its all we have left man!!!
NO ICE IN PARADISE BRAH!

Did I ever mention I Tivo Dog Bounty Hunter? One of my favorite shows. You have to watch a full episode to REALLY understand.

Does anyone else take a little joy in "denying" a friend request from a stranger or a lame band you never heard of? I do. I also take lots of pictures of our Beagles. I also talk to them a whole lot. I also talk for them, pretending I know what they are thinking. I also love chat rooms with my bros.

Long Overdue Catch-Up/All

So it's been awhile since I have written a real post. "Why Brian Why? Your writing is the fuel that gets me through a workday." Oh stop it. My writing is horrible and you know you come here for the comments which have been f'ing weak lately.

So we are mid-process of buying our first home together. I think it will be a pretty good deal, not much will need to be done to the new home. I think this weekend is in need of the honorable "weekend recap" it was that good:

Friday:
Work sucked all week, even though it was a 4 day week(3 day week for me as I was sick Tues.) So Friday I left a little early(with permission) and got a drink with some friends. My buddy Trip was on his way in from Tulsa to visit/play a rugby match against OU. We had a few beers and caught up on all the New Orleans drama. Trip lives in New Orleans and had fled to Tulsa ultimately and is currently waiting it out. It was good to spend some time with him. He was in my wedding but we didn't get too much of a chance to talk much because of the atmosphere that is wedding preparations.
We then gathered Melissa and headed to Norman for some good old fashion Beer and Pizza at The Library. This is the only thing I miss about Norman. We met up with some of Melissa's friends there and then went to an art opening. To protect the innocent I will not comment on the art or share my feelings about it. That's it. Melissa and I were dead tired at this point.

Saturday:
I woke up early with Trip to go down to Norman so he could play in a rugby match against the OU team. This was my first Rugby experience, and I enjoyed it immensely. The sport is very interesting and physical. Afterwards we went to the OU Rugby Clubhouse. It was really cool, old building with a bunch of Rugby memorabilia all about. And of course a bar. We drank all afternoon and watched the OU game that was taking place 100 yards from us on TV.
Evening came and we headed to The Conservatory to Film some people. I think we Filmed the people attending our set pretty well. It was our first time(with me playing at least) that we were demanded an encore. It felt good. I was pretty drunk on free Lost Lakes at that point.

Sunday:
sleeeeeeeeeep, Tofu Sunday at Justin's. Good times, great food.

So that's all you get. I can't give you back the last 10 minutes, so don't ask. Leave some comments you leeches.
