Again, I used to be cool... part 2

Back in the day I worked for a radio station producing a show on Sunday nights called "Tulsa Underground".  One weekend, me and some friends headed down to OKC to see Neutral Milk Hotel play at VZD's.  This was shortly before they broke huge.  I had an interview arranged with them through their label.  When we arrived, we saw signs posted stating the show was being canceled due to illness in the band.  I was very upset, as I was a freak for this band at the time.  Discouraged, I decided to make something of the trip.  So we decided to find Wayne Coyne's(Singer in the band The Flaming Lips) house and see if he would at least do a "Your listening to Tulsa Underground" spot.

Wayne's wife met me at the door, and went to get him.  He came to the door saying, "I would invite you in to get your help with prepping these boomboxes, but by the time I teach what to do, we would be done."  I told him our tale of travel.  He was bummed as he was going to go to the show as well.  I asked him for a spot, he said, "Why don't we just meet up at VZD's later, I am gonna jog and then shower, and will head up there."  He didn't believe the band was canceling because of sickness, and wanted to raise hell about it.  The following is about an hour of conversation we had outside of VZD's.  People I remember being there and on tape:
Me, Jay Hancock, Alex Simmons, and Pete!  This was a time in my life when I was a pretty big fan of what these guys did, so no making fun of me!  Also this was 1997'ish:

*CRAP- there is silence for almost a minute at the beginning, I will edit it later when I have time, RELAX!

Thanks to Ray Seggern for digging up this tape and getting it to me.

Dog Blog

Goodness, sorry this is turning into a dog blog.  That is not my intention.  My intention with this site is to not really have an intention.  There is stuff happening, some I can't talk about, but please hold.

Upcoming:
Lot's of friends and family visiting in the next month, so we will be opening Hotel Brewer, and will be hard at work prepping the continental breakfasts.

If you live in Portland, my friends Aqueduct will be playing this Weds.  I hear tell it is a show that started out as a big going away party for a local news writer, so it should definitely be a party.  But let's face it, ALL Aqueduct shows are parties.  See you there?

If you are interested in booking a room at Hotel Brewer, please do email me.

Baxter Buddy

We took the beags in for a check-up today.  Daisy has a minor ear infection and needs a dental cleaning.  Baxter didn't fare as well.  He does need a dental cleaning as well, but also has signs of arthritis and has a heart murmur.  This freaks us out.  The vet said that it can be anything from nothing to worry about to something to worry about.  We will be getting him an EKG in the next month or so to diagnose the problem.

I have said it before, and I will say it again.  These dogs are our children.  We love them with the same love and care any parent has for their child.  Baxter has been through so much already, and I hope he doesn't have to go through much more.  Either way, we will do whatever it takes to make his life better.  Because he makes our life better in return.  Hang in their buddy, you are loved more than you can understand.
