updates

Let's see, the Tulsan on SNL Bill Hader was on Conan last night. My friend Todd in LA just scored the new Silver Jews video. He and my best man, Jeremy are going to go out on tour with them to shoot footage for a dvd or whatever comes of it.

If one of you wants to get me a nerd gift for x-mas, how about a flickr pro account?

Dave Terry from Aqueduct showed up, for a surprise visit!!! I talked him and the piano man into letting him sing us some songs; what a treat:

David Cross

I have mixed feelings about David Cross. I loved Mr. Show, and I like some of his stand-up. But sometimes he crosses over into this "WAY to liberal" world. Don't get me wrong, I agree with 99% of what he says. BUT I get weird feelings when anyone is WAY something. You know what I mean? This world consists of so many things that cannot be broken down into A vs. B. There has to be a spectrum of beliefs, ideas, notions, and rights and wrongs. So it freaks me out when I talk to someone who is "WAY" conservative OR "WAY" liberal. I think they equally have it wrong.

Anyways, here is a great read from David Cross. It is an open letter to Larry the Cable Guy. Read the whole thing here.

My favorite line, which I think was in Rolling Stone originally:

"He's good at what he does. It's a lot of anti-gay, racist humor -- which people like in America - all couched in 'I'm telling it like it is.' He's in the right place at the right time for that gee-shucks, proud-to-be-a-redneck, I'm-just-a-straight-shooter-multimillionaire-in-cutoff-flannel, selling-ring tones-act. That's where we are as a nation now. We're in a state of vague American values and anti-intellectual pride."

I think that really sums a lot of my frustrations with this Administration. It's always real short and easy answers. Either the bible says to or "being tough" tells them to. I just wish they would use the real argument they are thinking. "Money, that's why we will do it this way. Me and my buddies will make more money if we do it this way, I mean 'God demands it!' and and 'We won't cut and run, we will remain strong".

Why am I talking about politics? Sorry.
