Again, I used to be cool... part 2

Back in the day I worked for a radio station producing a show on Sunday nights called "Tulsa Underground".  One weekend, me and some friends headed down to OKC to see Neutral Milk Hotel play at VZD's.  This was shortly before they broke huge.  I had an interview arranged with them through their label.  When we arrived, we saw signs posted stating the show was being canceled due to illness in the band.  I was very upset, as I was a freak for this band at the time.  Discouraged, I decided to make something of the trip.  So we decided to find Wayne Coyne's(Singer in the band The Flaming Lips) house and see if he would at least do a "Your listening to Tulsa Underground" spot.

Wayne's wife met me at the door, and went to get him.  He came to the door saying, "I would invite you in to get your help with prepping these boomboxes, but by the time I teach what to do, we would be done."  I told him our tale of travel.  He was bummed as he was going to go to the show as well.  I asked him for a spot, he said, "Why don't we just meet up at VZD's later, I am gonna jog and then shower, and will head up there."  He didn't believe the band was canceling because of sickness, and wanted to raise hell about it.  The following is about an hour of conversation we had outside of VZD's.  People I remember being there and on tape:
Me, Jay Hancock, Alex Simmons, and Pete!  This was a time in my life when I was a pretty big fan of what these guys did, so no making fun of me!  Also this was 1997'ish:

*CRAP- there is silence for almost a minute at the beginning, I will edit it later when I have time, RELAX!

Thanks to Ray Seggern for digging up this tape and getting it to me.

I loved listening to this. Hearing both your voice and Jay's in that recording was a trip down memory lane. Thank you.
Somewhere, I have a cassette tape of the songs we recorded at "Jim's House."
